Key Objectives & Responsibilities: - Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the budgeting process, including annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Analyze variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control operational expenses, optimizing costs while maintaining quality and service standards. Identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow, ensuring the availability of funds for daily operations and expenses. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable to optimize working capital.
- Operational Support: Collaborate with operational managers to provide financial insights and support decision-making. Assist in evaluating the financial implications of pricing and promotional strategies.
- Lead the implementation of the financial reporting system: Use financial software and tools to streamline financial processes and maintain data accuracy and integrity in financial systems.
- Assist with compliance audits and monitoring internal controls.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Person Spec & Key Competencies: - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Balance of technical knowledge with strong commercial acumen.
- Meticulous and organized; able to manage concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
- Strategic thinker with good judgement and business sense.
- Entrepreneurial and open mind-set.
- Advanced degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions, and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Experience with POS systems in a retail environment is highly desirable.
