Overview Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Tsai Lab at CHLA is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our research program as a post-doctoral fellow. The Tsai Lab studies the genomics of pediatric brain tumors, focusing on using functional genomics approaches to characterize tumor drivers and identify novel dependencies with the goal of finding better therapies for childhood cancer. The post-doctoral fellow will be expected to perform laboratory work and conduct research independently with the guidance of Dr. Tsai. The project will be focused on embryonal tumors and understanding novel cancer dependencies, including how cell state is regulated as well as novel therapeutic approaches to these tumors. This individual will be expected to be organized, plan and prepare for experiments, accurately document methods and experiments, analyze data, and prepare manuscripts for publication. The candidate will attend and present at scientific meetings, present in lab meetings regularly, and meet one-on-one with the PI on a regular basis to discuss research progress and career development. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Doctoral degree. Candidate should have a strong background in cancer biology, molecular biology, genetics, genomics, and/or neuroscience. Must be proficient in the following: Experimental methods include in vitro experiments with neurosphere models to investigate the role of knocking out candidate genes, protein work including Western blots and immunoprecipitation, molecular biology, CRISPR/Cas9 high throughput screening, RNA-sequencing, and ChIP-sequencing. Computational and data science skills not required but certainly preferred. The applicant should have a willingness to learn with attention to detail and an eagerness to teach and collaborate with others and participate in a dynamic team. Education/Licensure/Certification: MD, and or PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree. Pay Scale Information $29,640.00-$80,196.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
