POSITION STATEMENT: The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse is diagnosing, treating, evaluating and managing mental health issues, as well as psychiatric evaluations: Obtaining medical and psychiatric history. He/she must have excellent ability to work with clients with substance abuse and mental health disorders. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be Board licensed and certified Advanced Practice Nurse/Family Nurse Practitioner by the state of Delaware Required to have a joint protocol with a collaborating physician who is licensed in Delaware prior to prescribing any medication or medical device. Excellent communication skills and organizational skills Excellent ability to work with clients with substance abuse and mental health disorders Ability to train and evaluate multiple level support staff Excellent writing skills and record keeping skills Detail oriented Knowledge of medical conditions, psychiatric conditions, and medications Ability to deal with diverse populations Ability to route patient's problems and concerns to appropriate sources Ability to stay within boundaries of the role and function of position Critical thinking skills Ability to evaluate and comprehend techniques, procedures and changes to meet variable situations
