Mission or Goal of Unit: The VCU Department of Family Medicine and Population Health exists to: IMPROVE the health and wellbeing of the people of Virginia and beyond ADVANCE the science of epidemiology, family medicine, and public health by means of innovative, interdisciplinary research EDUCATE ourselves, our patients, our learners, and other stakeholders PROVIDE high quality primary care, public health services, and lead their integration TRAIN the next generation of epidemiologists, family physicians, and public health professionals Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Family Medicine is seeking board certified/board eligible physicians (Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine) for our VCU Health Urgent Care at our Tappahannock VA location, 40 miles Northeast of our main academic medical center campus located in Richmond, VA. Duties & Responsibilities: Clinical: Provide excellent clinical care by demonstrating proficiency in the evaluation, diagnosis and management of a wide range of acute medical and traumatic conditions. Provide efficient, high quality patient care that reflects current professional practice norms and skills and is consistent with accepted utilization guidelines. Quality/Safety: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes; participate in quality improvement initiatives and promote patient safety and satisfaction. Education/Research: Participate in teaching/educational programs and research initiatives as desired according to interest Administrative: Complete all administrative functions promptly and accurately that may be required of clinical providers in the environment. Required Qualifications: MD, DO or equivalent degree Eligible for an unrestricted medical license in Virginia Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU Interested applicants should apply online to and submit a cover letter describing your qualifications and interest in the position, current Curriculum Vitae and diversity statement.
