Family Medicine Hospital Service Physician San Antonio Faculty School of Medicine Requisition Apply for Job Share this Job Sign Up for Job Alerts Department of Family and Community Medicine Hospital Service Physician The Department of Family and Community Medicine in the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is recruiting a full-time Clinical faculty member to provide high-quality, patient care as part of a dynamic, well-established inpatient program, within UT Health's affiliate hospital, University Hospital, a University Health System facility. This position will be responsible for direct inpatient care, including admitting, rounding, and writing progress notes on patients daily 6am to 6pm on a 5 on/5 off block schedule. This is a non-teaching position, primarily caring for perioperative podiatry patients, and will work closely with the podiatry team at University Hospital as well as the Family Medicine Hospital Service. This position will not be expected to take call for the Family Medicine Hospital Service, however, there may be an option for maternity coverage in the future. The successful candidate should be comfortable caring for very ill patients but will not see patients in an ICU setting. Faculty will coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to develop appropriate care plans, safe discharge plans, and transitions of care for patients. University Hospital has a Rapid Response team so will not be responsible for running codes, unless awaiting Rapid Response team to arrive. Procedures are not required, but there is room for training and opportunity to perform procedures if comfortable. University Hospital is a Bexar County teaching hospital that provides a Level I Trauma Center for adults and Level II Trauma Center care for pediatrics in the South/Central Texas Region. The collaboration between UHS and UT Health Science Center supports a comprehensive clinical and teaching facility. Candidates must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine. In addition, candidates must be eligible for a Texas Medical License, for certification by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, and for credentials with UT Medicine San Antonio and University Hospital. The rank and salary of this position will be paid at academic Family Medicine rates and will be dependent on the individual's qualifications. External Additional Information Benefits Overview UT Health San Antonio offers an excellent benefits package for its employees. TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers. Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options: Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire. Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken. Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year plus three floating holidays, which can be used anytime during the fiscal year. FSAs- Employees can enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to set aside money from earnings before taxes for qualifying dependent day care expenses or out-of-pocket health care expenses.
