Organization Overview

Youth Research Inc. (YRI) assists the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and its state and local partners in developing, administering, and delivering training and learning opportunities and related activities for the full range of services for which OCFS is responsible, such as child welfare, juvenile justice, childcare, adoption, and foster care, youth development, and child and adult protective services.


Duties


Under the supervision of the Center for Excellence Senior Project Manager, the Family First Implementation Specialist will play a critical role in developing the capacity of the Center for Excellence for Evidence-Based Practice Implementation (CfE) by supporting the roll-out, implementation, and sustainability of key evidence-based practices (EBPs). Currently this includes Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT). The primary responsibilities of this position will focus on MI, however support of BSFT and other EBPs that are outlined with the New York State Family First Prevention Services Act, Prevention Plan should be expected. Located within the Strategy, Equity and Advancement (SEA) department, the Family First Implementation Specialist will work closely with other key department and CfE staff.


  • Serve as a point-person for EBP specific assignments, including gathering information, convening meetings, and developing timelines and workplans for EBP implementation.
  • Work collaboratively to develop implementation plans, application processes, readiness assessments, fidelity monitoring plans, and identification of continued training supports.
  • Serve as a liaison between EBP training purveyors or other subject matter experts and the CfE team
  • Coordinate training in targeted EBPs.
  • Oversee and support the process of fidelity monitoring checks and provide coaching and technical assistance to EBP providers both virtually and in person.
  • Identify project opportunities and challenges and make specific recommendations for process, quality, and overall project improvement.
  • Implement change management plans as needed.
  • Track project performance using appropriate tools, and techniques.
  • Support data collection activities, the development of resources to visualize patterns, and produce recommendations.
  • Ensure all necessary fidelity reporting data is managed, tracked, and reported in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or closely related discipline AND at least 3 years of experience in a clinical or client-facing setting OR 3 years of experience implementing or monitoring fidelity of an evidence-based practice OR a combination of that experience.
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a field noted above AND at least 1 year of experience in a clinical or client-facing setting OR 1 year of experience implementing or monitoring fidelity of an evidence-based practice OR a combination of that experience.
  • Knowledge of child welfare/child and family well-being systems, the Family First Prevention Services Act, and related evidenced-based programs.
  • Knowledge or experience with Motivational Interviewing, Brief Strategic Family Therapy, or another evidenced-based practice outlined in the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build, foster, and maintain internal and external relationships
  • Well-developed analytical skills with an ability to synthesize complex information and apply it to strategic recommendations
  • The ability to interpret data (such as fidelity scores, completion rates, and predictive estimates) to draw conclusions and provide informed recommendations
  • Commitment to teamwork and ability to proactively foster a collegial work environment
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging with experience working with diverse groups and populations
  • Intermediate-level computer skills required, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Compensation details: 38.46-41.03 Hourly Wage
