Job Description: This enterprise-wide position is accountable for delivering on Intermountain's vision of extraordinary care by leading, directing, overseeing, and achieving the goals and strategic initiatives of the Design and Construction department. Supports the enterprise-wide facility planning, design, and construction program as approved through the capital budget process and as directed by the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Design and Construction. The position provides enterprise-wide leadership, direction, and guidance to strategic facility master planning and specific project planning of major/strategic projects within all region(s) and works in collaboration with Real Estate, Operations, Strategy, Finance, and other appropriate departments. In addition, this position provides leadership over the enterprise-wide brand enhancement and architectural style guideline manual and coordinates with the Design and Construction Director(s), Systems and Controls Director, and project managers on enterprise-wide branding implementation and recommended updates. This position may also directly manage selected projects as assigned. Scope: This is an Intermountain Health enterprise-based role accountable for supporting facility planning projects, artwork coordination, selection, installations/initiatives within care sites, and branding implementation specific to all regions (e.g., Canyons, Desert, Peaks, etc.), and works with all levels of caregivers, consultants, suppliers, etc., both internal and external. This position is responsible for relationship management over their assigned portfolio of assigned scope of work. Job Description: 1. Provides leadership and direction to the strategic facility master planning and programming whether independent or in conjunction with major/strategic capital projects. 2. Creates, monitors, improves, and teaches a consistent master planning/development process throughout the Intermountain system. 3. Assists with the creation and project cost estimating and scheduling related to each annual five-year capital plan and updates and works with Finance to develop five-year capital plans throughout the Intermountain system. 4. Demonstrates a working knowledge of and applies the current version of International Building Codes (e.g., IBC, IFC, IMC, IPC, etc.), Life Safety Codes, specific State Department of Health Regulations, National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), FM Global Regulations, Facilities Guidelines Institute, and similar regulatory requirements as applied to all strategic master planning projects. 5. Conducts and oversees the development, maintenance/update, and implementation of enterprise-wide brand enhancement and architectural style design guidelines. This includes dimensions, materials, aesthetics, artwork/branding (materials and finishes), and other relevant and associated criteria. 6. Works closely with Operations leadership (enterprise and regional), Finance, and Strategy to ensure thoughtful strategic facility master plans and strategies and ensures maximum utility, flexibility, and future expansion pathways. 7. Provides direction and oversight to enterprise-led strategic facility master planning projects to ensure integration of industry best-practices, compliance with standards, leverage strategy data, and eliminate waste. 8. Manages assigned major/strategic construction projects, as necessary. Manage assigned project scopes, schedule, and budgets. 9. Manages customers, stakeholders, external consultants, and vendor relationships and expectations. 10. Collaborates with department System and Controls Director on the development, maintenance, and implementation of enterprise-wide design guidelines and construction standards. This includes dimensions/sizes, materials, aesthetics, and other relevant and associated criteria. 11. Executes on Talent Management including such things as staffing, engagement, and performance review. 12. Manage direct reports/caregivers and external consultants/vendors effectively and oversee their responsibilities and duties on assigned projects. 13. Prepares the operational budget for respective team and coordinates with AVP of Design and Construction on approvals. 14. Utilizes the One Intermountain Operating Model (IOM) to identify areas of opportunity, such as standardization of work processes and quality improvement. Uses benchmarking data to identify gaps and deploy continuous improvement efforts. 15. Participates in various regional and enterprise committees representing strategic facility master planning and design/construction project initiatives. Minimum Requirements: Master's Degree of Architecture, Engineering or Healthcare Administration from an accredited school of architecture or engineering or academic institution. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. Seven years professional experience as a licensed Architect or Engineer or Healthcare Administration or Health Strategy. and - Five years' experience managing multiple strategy, planning, design, construction or related projects. and - Three years' experience in a leadership role requiring the demonstration of organizational team-building and empowerment skills, and demonstrated ability to lead other project managers and projects from inception to completion. and - Must have a working knowledge of medical facility programming and design along with advanced concepts of construction administration and contracting. and - Must understand and interpret Construction Scheduling, Contracts/Contracting, Building Codes, Contract Documents, Construction Process Documents, Engineering Reports, Vendor Products, and Building Standards. and - Experience using Project Management Information Systems, AutoCAD, PDF editors, word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications. and - Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communications and - Excellent leadership skills. and - Excellent communication skills. and - Excellent interpersonal skills. and - Experience in compliance programs relating to professional standards that include local, state, and federal agencies, and accreditation organizations Preferred Qualifications: Licensed as a professional Architect or Engineer in the state of practice. A Certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Work experience in a health care related field preferred.
