Scope of Position: Lead and manage a technical team to deliver engineering rigor and manufacturing excellence for the Woodland manufacturing site for facility maintenance, process troubleshooting, control improvements, and solution deployment operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing/Facilities Excellence
  • Maintain, operate all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, building management system, generators, air compressors and building repairs.
  • Apply engineering principles to implement new control and process technologies and integrate technologies to the manufacturing environment.
  • Champion the plant-wide deployment of process measurement and control systems and ensure compliance for the site calibration program.
  • Actively support, improve, and ensure compliance to the site quality management systems through documentation preparation, process auditing, and completion of corrective actions.

Operational Engineering
  • Support manufacturing with operational problems with hands-on troubleshooting and process root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Build department- and plant-level roadmaps and metrics targeted to the controlled execution of defined manufacturing processes.
  • Prioritize, and drive continuous improvement activity for Plant Operations, considering impact on plant Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, Safety, and Innovation (QCDMS+I).

Project Management and Execution
  • Promote and implement project and activities to drive process standardization, efficiency, and cost reduction in alignment with department and plant objectives.
  • Identify and implement projects to maintain and enhance manufacturing operations. Manage capital and process improvement projects from concept through implementation including scope and resource needs, equipment specifications, construction, start-up, and validation.

Engineering Rigor / Technical Expertise
  • Build cross-functional and cross-hierarchical teams of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the plant, Division, and overall company on identifying, scoping, and solving complex operational and engineering challenges. Drive technically sound solutions conclusions through defined change management systems to operational control and Quality validation.
  • Identify and address technical capability gaps through introduction of established and innovative tools and systems for the management and improvement of plant operations and facilities.
  • Lead process reliability efforts to improve existing products and manufacturing processes and support new manufacturing processes and equipment.

Leadership and Development
  • Provide supervision for the facility and maintenance resources in support of site's objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with operations management, functional leaders, engineers, and maintenance organization to establish work priorities and assignments for improved operational efficiency.
  • Coach, mentor and develop facility personnel, promoting sound engineering and process improvement methods, techniques, tools, measurement, and controls.
  • Develop career planning strategy with functional leadership, considering career interests, strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
  • Build development plan for professional growth and manage through periodic discussions with leadership, coordination of targeted SMART engagement and continuous education as appropriate.

Travel: 0-5% domesitc travel may be required

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering or Physical Sciences discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in engineering or technical roles with progressing responsibilities.
  • Experience in process engineering, maintenance, controls and measurements, or equipment engineering.
  • Strong leadership skills. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to develop others.
  • Demonstrated project management experience including design, execution resource management and start-up with a proven track record of achieving results.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional efforts with manufacturing, quality, plant leadership, other functional leaders.

Desired Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory and leadership experience of engineering teams.
  • Work experience in aseptic processing, pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing.
  • Experience in technical problem solving and root cause analysis to drive improvements in manufacturing process capability, machine reliability and equipment output.
  • Experience in the transfer and integration new technology into a manufacturing environment including process startup and technical knowledge transfer.
  • Experience/certification in the application PEx tools, Problem Solving skills, MEE tools.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring technical personnel. Able to provide direction and motivate others within an extended project team that may include outside contractors and vendors.

The range for this position is $91,633.00 - $125,996.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
