Eye Care Specialist

Join our team at a leading eye care provider in Auburn, AL.

We are currently seeking an Eye Care Specialist who will be responsible for recommending and fitting eyewear for customers. This includes taking measurements, adjusting glasses, and teaching customers how to properly care for their glasses or contact lenses.

In this role, you will communicate with other eye care professionals to receive prescriptions and send them to Laboratory Technicians. Additionally, you will provide customers with sample frames to try on and maintain accurate customer data regarding their prescriptions.

Obtain patient prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists.
Take customer information and measurements of the ocular area.
Recommend frames or contact lenses that suit the customer's style, face, and specifications.
Adjust and fit frames according to prescriptions and customer's specifications.
Prepare work orders for optical technicians to manufacture lenses.
Use specialized equipment, such as calipers, lensometers, and lens gauges.
Keep inventory on frames and contact lenses to ensure product variety.
Repair broken frames.
Educate customers on how to wear and maintain glasses and contact lenses.
Perform administrative duties, such as managing prescriptions, customer records, and insurance.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or certification in opticianry.
Minimum of 5 years of experience required.
State license or certification to practice as an optician.
Ability to operate specialized equipment.
Excellent customer service and sales ability.
