Job Details

Position is responsible for the upkeep on all extrusion equipment, trouble shooting, product quality and training of all operators.

Education and Experience
High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent work experience
5 yrs. plastics or extrusion experience

Must maintain equipment and keep equipment operational.
Must keep product within specifications, as determined by the QC department.
Assist with the training of new operators.
Direct and lead team with sizing changeovers.

Trouble shooting all extrusion problems, to include but not limited to:
1. Weigh Scale Blender
Set up and calibration of weigh scale blender
Identifying and clearing faults in weigh scale blender
2. Extruder
Identifying and replacement of faulty extruder head bands and thermocouples.
Keep work area clean and safe.
Must maintain the preventative maintenance program on all extrusion equipment.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvements with processes and procedures within the department.
Will be asked to perform operator duties during downtime or when there is a lack of manpower.
Maintain general housekeeping duties within the department.
Must comply with company and department rules and procedures.
Must assist Management with maintaining the 5S Program.

Requirements
Good mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
Must be careful, concise and attention to detail.
Good eye and hand coordination.
Excellent communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.
Basic math skills.
Ability to follow directions and work harmoniously with supervisors and operators.
Positive, self-motivated attitude.
Ability to interpret manufacturing orders and schedules and make line assignments in the absence of Team Leader.
Must be able to tear down dies and head, pull screw, clean tooling and rebuild with minimal assistance.
Must be able to bring line up after tear down and sizing change to "in spec" product with minimal assistance.
Ability to trouble shoot problems with ink jet printers.
Ability to set, trouble shoot and reset weigh scale blenders.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance
