Program Summary:

Our Extended Day Programs (EDP) and Beacons are award-winning after school academic enrichment programs serving over 1,100 children K-5 year-round. Based in San Francisco, our 11 Extended Day Programs/ Beacons support over 4,800 children, youth and families each year. We offer a wide range of after-school services that increase the number of K-12 students who are prepared for and complete a college education.

Position Overview

Mission Graduates is looking for passionate and motivated educators to develop programming, school relationships and teams. Future Leaders will be exposed to areas such as organization sustainability, fiscal responsibility, & accountability systems to track impact, progress, & areas of improvement program-wide.

Key Responsibilities & Primary Duties
  • Assist in the daily operations of the Extended Day Program/Beacons including supervising youth, administrative tasks & staff development.
  • Mentor and develop staff through weekly team meetings, check-ins, joint-planning sessions and periodic observation and evaluation opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate youth files and records, i.e. attendance, student reading levels, and other evaluation forms to track student progress.
  • Collect monthly academic, enrichment program updates to communicate in external reports and marketing communications.
  • Help maintain the program's calendar of activities and trainings for staff and volunteers.
  • Plan & Coordinate activities, field trips and other school wide events.
  • Build cultural and educational bridges with students and their families.
  • Coordinate and assist in community outreach, parent participation, and volunteer recruitment and supervision.
  • Assist in planning/facilitation of (at least) quarterly family engagement events or parent engagement i.e. Literacy Night, March to College
  • Work alongside the Extended Day Program/Beacon Director to ensure program alignment to develop a college-going culture.
  • Support staff development in infusing a vibrant college culture in grades K-5 through materials, themes, visual aids, cheers, energizers, etc
  • Develop activities for grades K-5 to be explored during Community Time and I'm Going to College unit.
  • Explore & maintain partnerships with local colleges and universities to provide good examples of successful minority students in college.
  • Member of the Extended Day Program/ Beacon Leadership Team
  • Align program models and develop academic and enrichment content across all Extended Day Program sites.
  • Fulfills organizational duties as they arise including participating in staff meetings, collaborating on staff training, special committees, event planning and implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Stakeholder Relationships
  • Create and maintain relationships with external consultants and other community based organizations.
  • Attend meeting and participate in working groups with school based and organizational stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Two years proven ability and experience working with urban youth.
  • Experience in teaching and/or after-school programming.
  • Understanding of youth development principles.
  • Passion for working with children and youth is a must, as well as a willingness to explore alternative, non-institutional teaching methods.
  • Must be able to relate effectively to diverse communities and demonstrate understanding of cultural diversity.
  • BA or BS required.
  • TB test clearance mandatory prior to hire.
  • Experience working in communities of color with low-income populations.
  • Candidates must be flexible, well organized and able to take initiative.
Benefits Package: includes fully paid Medical, Dental and Vision for employee; access to Pre-Tax Commuter Benefits, as well as access to 403(b) account at time of hire. We also offer a 3% employer contribution for eligible staff (eligibility to be explained at time of hire. In addition, we offer 14 paid holidays per year, as well as 8 personal hours per year and accrue vacation and sick-time.

Anticipated Start Date - August 2023

1.00 FTE, Exempt

Pay Range -$ 65,000-70,000
