What Are We Looking for in the Ideal Candidates?

We are seeking an experienced and tenured Senior Buyer with advanced sourcing experience that can strategically negotiate profitable Long Term Agreements with a supply base. The ideal candidate will be able to easily process timely requests for quotes (RFQ), and purchase orders all while building and maintaining supplier relationships ensuring effective negotiation or best pricing, and delivery. This person will have a thorough knowledge of buying goods, running complex Excel reports, and have the time management ability to handle all tasks and accounts assigned as well as check other buyer's work.


Exactly What You Will Be Doing:

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for advanced purchasing tasks. These duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Handle complex and dynamic commodities.
  • Responsible for larger spending items.
  • Create bid-to-buy orders for products for clients not under contractual obligations.
  • Research, select, and purchase quality products and materials.
  • Develop accurate monitoring of systems, metrics, and purchase orders.
  • Review and approve other buyers purchase orders and request for quotes (RFQ)
  • Purchase assigned commodities to meet specialized and tailored needs.
  • Implement new supplier LTAs by strategizing and taking into account all customer usage.
  • In-depth and intricate negotiation of various pricing on commodities assigned, deliveries, and lead times.
  • Review, analyze, process and expedite MRP (Material Requisition Planning) daily.
  • Manage inventory based on defined department goals.
  • Developing, updating, and maintaining defined inventory levels for purchased finished goods and assigned commodities.
  • Analyze, reduce, and disposition excess and obsolete finished goods by notifying the warehouse to scrap the material.
  • Monitor supplier performance for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Manage lead time by getting supplier updates quarterly or as defined by management.
  • Prevent obsolescence and excess finished goods by tracking new and changing revisions on products and commodities.
  • Resolve various invoicing and receiving discrepancies within departmental and supplier bases.
  • Implement newly sourced products and new suppliers to the portfolio.
  • Act as a liaison between the suppliers and internal departments for all purchasing duties.
  • Develop and support continuous improvement efforts within the department.
  • Lead, present and influence department, company, buyer, and supplier meetings


The Ideal Candidate's Experience Will Include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent Required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of senior procurement or purchasing experience
  • Minimum 5 years of Aerospace fastener buying experience is a huge plus.
  • 3 years of proposal development and implementation
  • Experience with distribution and physical inventory.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

  • Expert-level understanding of market trends
  • Advanced Excel and other MS Office applications
  • In-depth knowledge of product and multiple commodity
  • Aerospace supplier and vendor knowledge
  • Expert understanding of the buying process
  • Detailed knowledge of ERP systems and other supply chain management tools, preferably SAP
  • Exceptional computer skills and database knowledge
  • Detailed knowledge of building a supply chain/ procurement channel
  • Expert negotiation skills
  • Fast learner in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to build a supply chain/ procurement channel.
  • High level interpretation of Material Requisition Planning (MRP) and forecasting ability.
  • Strong Presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of reducing costs and increasing efficiency in the procurement process.
  • Progressive to advanced inventory control knowledge
  • Expert organization and documentation skills
  • Vendor Relationships, Building Relationships
  • Definitive understanding of process improvements and strategy
  • Handle complex LTA's and know when to negotiate terms.
  • Expert interdepartmental continuity skills

Preferences

  • Expert in Excel and other MS Applications
  • 8 or more years' experience in a direct Senior Procurement or Senior Purchasing position.
  • 7-10 years of Aerospace fastener buying experience.
  • AS, BA, BS, BBS, or other advanced or technical degree/certification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or other commensurate experience

Work Requirements

May require the ability to travel up to 15% which may include client, vendor, or supplier visits as well as attending training and development seminars/Kaizens as necessary.
