1 Group Description: Evercore's Houston Energy Advisory Team has 75+ energy advisory professionals and is the leading ranked advisor, having collectively advised on 220+ energy M&A transactions since 2014 across Energy verticals including upstream, midstream, downstream, oil field services, petrochemicals, power and low carbon segments. The Houston office is also leading the firm-wide initiative to expand Evercore's coverage of clean energy-focused firms and energy transition more broadly. POSITION: Evercore seeks to hire an Experienced Associate for its Energy Advisory Team. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Evercore provides Associates with the ability to work closely with senior bankers on industry-transforming, multi-billion dollar transactions around the world. The small transaction team structure creates a strong platform for Associates to assume high levels of responsibility and client exposure at early stages of their careers. As part of the team, the Associate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of strategic advisory assignments including: sellside and buyside M&A engagements; activism and raid defense; divestitures and spin-off engagements; equity and equity-linked capital-raising and, more broadly, evaluation of strategic alternatives. SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a strong background in investment banking and / or relevant work experience in industry M&A and corporate development, with excellent quantitative and analytical skills, as well the ability to think broadly about a range of complex strategic issues confronting the firm's clients. Responsibilities for a Associate include management and execution of live transactions, assistance with new business development, and client relationships, with a particular focus on working closely with analysts and associates, overseeing financial and valuation analysis, resolving complex financial and accounting issues, performing industry and competitive analysis, and preparing client presentation materials. Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of work experience investment banking and / or a relevant field or MBA degree with at least 2 years of investment banking experience Experience with buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions Strong financial modeling skills and an excellent grasp of corporate finance and financial valuations including DCF, merger modeling, comparable companies and precedents Experience with due-diligence and transaction execution processes Experience preparing and maintaining industry/company presentations and benchmarking materials and other process documents required Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in teams Strong communications skills, written and oral, and ability to effectively articulate ideas Strong work ethic ABOUT EVERCORE: Evercore (NYSE: EVR) is a premier global independent investment banking advisory firm.
