Wheeling University invites applications for a full-time twelve-month position in the Department of Athletic Training & Exercise Science. The successful applicant will have earned a minimum of a Master of Science in Exercise Science or a related field, or a Doctorate in a related field. This faculty position will teach in the undergraduate Exercise Science program and/or general courses in the undergraduate Athletic Training and the Master of Science of Athletic Training (MSAT) programs. Wheeling University is a private Roman Catholic university in Wheeling, West Virginia. It was founded as Wheeling College in 1954 by the Society of Jesus and was a Jesuit institution until 2019. Wheeling University competes in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association as a member of the Mountain East Conference.

Requirements

Job duties include didactic instruction to the students in the undergraduate Exercise Science program and/or general courses in the undergraduate Athletic Training and the Master of Science of Athletic Training (MSAT) programs. Typical teaching responsibilities include preparation of course syllabi and materials and the assignment of grades.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The successful applicant will possess:

1. Experience teaching Exercise Science and other health science courses.

2. Knowledge of and experience with higher education principles, practices, and procedures.

3. Knowledge of and experience with accreditation standards and processes.

4. Proven, strong written and verbal communication and collaborative organizational skills.

5. Knowledge and experience with technology sufficient to teach assigned courses.

6. Ability to collaboratively participate in the development of course and program curriculum, prepare course materials, and effectively deliver didactic and/or laboratory presentations.

7. A desire to develop innovative learning experiences.

8. Commitment to the promotion and provision of learner-centered education. 9. Dedicated to excellence in teaching, with a strong commitment to high professional standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1. A Master of Science in Exercise Science or a related field, or a Doctorate in a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Previous academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level

.2. Demonstrated record of leadership within an accredited program and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

3. Certification(s) to validate expertise (i.e., Exercise Physiologist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist, Personal Trainer, Dietitian/Nutritionist, etc.).
