Exercise Planner Support Team Minimum Qualifications Summary Certification & Education N/a Experience Required 10 years prior military experience, SOF experience required Minimum of 2 years' experience serving in a command, senior enlisted advisor, or primary staff billet in a SOF HQs (USSOCOM/TSOC/Component), Service, Joint Staff, OSD, or 2-4 Star level Service/GCC HQs Minimum of 2 years' experience directly interfacing with senior staff (O6/GOFO) at the TSOC, Component, GCC, Service, Interagency level Excellent presentation, communication, and organization skills Must have Spanish language proficiency to pass annual DLPT with a minimum score of 2/2 Must possess and maintain a current Secret clearance Job Objective The purpose of this task is to provide Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) trained with a high degree of relevant and current knowledge and situational awareness of SOF activities as well as other human and geo-political issues affecting SOCSOUTH plans and activities. Planning, capabilities development support, analysis are also needed to accomplish the SOCSOUTH mission. Responsibilities Provide expertise in SOF exercises to support planning and execution in the SOUTHCOM AOR. Coordinate with external forces including SOF, Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Partner Nations for exercise participation. Assist participating units in various activities such as field training, logistical support, amphibious landings, airborne and ground maneuvers, air and maritime operations, and Special Operations activities. Stay updated on SOF and joint training requirements by researching past and current operations, joint exercise instructions, and SOF doctrine. Participate in working groups, conferences, and meetings to fulfill unit exercise requirements. Maintain cooperative relationships with planners and leaders in USSOCOM, USSOUTHCOM, and other organizations to ensure synchronized exercise design and execution. Support exercise design, planning, scenario scripting, training, and observations as needed. Develop or review training event concepts including objectives, scenarios, processes, and products. Undertake additional duties as necessary to assist the SOCSOUTH J37 team in training and exercise-related responsibilities. Travel domestically and internationally for exercise planning and coordination, averaging 45-60 days annually within the USSOUTHCOM AOR, depending on exercise locations and frequency.
