Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Executive Director of Finance for the UChicago Medicine (UCM) Care Network - Medical Group.

The Executive Director of Finance, UCM Care Network - Medical Group will collaborate closely with cross-functional organization leadership, including the Biological Sciences Division (BSD), UCMC Finance, Shared Services, Managed Care, Strategy Operations, Community Health and Hospital Division and the University of Chicago Medicine. The Executive Director is responsible for organizing, implementing, and directly participating in the development of processes that standardize financial functions, and leading the integration of the physician network strategy, including a multi-year growth and capital plan to maximize the value of the Care Network assets across the Health System. This role will also foster efforts to positively impact the organization's visibility, image and relationship with its surrounding community.

Who you are:

The Executive Director of Finance, UCM Care Network - Medical Group is responsible for the overall financial management, as well as the evaluation of strategic growth opportunities across the Medical Group/Care Network. The Executive Director should be comfortable diving into the analytics as well as strategically leading the growth and development of the Medical Group.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or related field, with relevant financial management experience required. MBA Preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in finance at a healthcare system, preferably an academic healthcare system.
  • 8 years experience in a managerial role in a health system/shared services environment.
  • 5 years experience in an employed physician practice model.
  • A sound knowledge of healthcare finance, strategic planning and cost controls with skills of business acumen, strategic planning, organizational assessment, highly developed leadership with interpersonal skills and quantitative analytic abilities.
  • Strong service orientation and communication skills required.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and exercise a high degree of diplomacy, discretion and collaboration in dealing with constituencies at all levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience in the development, implementation and ongoing utilization of automated budget/financial systems and BI reporting platforms is desired.
  • Fluent in excel, MS Office and SQL.

What you'll do as the Executive Director of Finance, UCM Care Network - Medical Group:

  • Supports Care Network in developing the financial direction and vision for the future network and business development of the Medical Group.
  • Manages the Medical Group performance strategy to achieve standard operational goals on an integrated strategic and financial plan, including a multi-year growth and capital plan, in collaboration with the System CFO, Care Network President, VP Finance Shared Services/CFO Care Network, and the Dean of Clinical Affairs and other Leadership.
  • Quickly establishes and maintains lines of communication in support of appropriate relationships among key stakeholders, while pinpointing new process initiatives and a transparent financial model that identifies dollars, effort and processes to determine current and ongoing financial support vital to the development of the Medical Group and Care Network.
  • Develops and implements best-in-class financial and analytic operations across the Network, including the development of budgets, financials and long-range planning processes for the Care Network (UCM and CHHD) including volumes, revenues, and expenses leading to optimal financial effectiveness, service excellence and clinical quality.
  • Prepares and conducts internal and external presentations for internal and Board leadership.
