Summary


The CSPV epidemiology group aims to provide strategy leadership in safety signal detection and evaluation, risk management, and post-marketing epidemiological safety studies required by Health Authorities for all Daiichi-Sankyo global compounds under investigation and on the market through appropriate epidemiology studies.


This Executive Director, the sub-functional lead for Epidemiology group in Global Medical Safety, leads and manages the Epidemiology group and sets the long-term strategy for the group to meet future business needs. This role ensures global collaboration across regions and functions within Daiichi-Sankyo. The incumbent should have deep knowledge and extensive experience in epidemiology and be able to provide essential specialist guidance and direction to project teams, senior leaders, and other colleagues to ensure optimal management of high-impact projects.


Responsibilities

Lead and manage the epidemiology group

  • Recruit and develop epidemiology talents across regions globally to meet future business needs.
  • Set the long-term strategy for the group in order to provide adequate epidemiology support in safety signal detection, evaluation and RMP for all Daiichi-Sankyo compounds under investigation and on the market.
  • Interact with key internal and external stakeholders, effectively negotiate with and influence senior leadership within CSPV and other functions and a wide range of cross-functional project teams on behalf of epidemiology group.

Oversee all safety related epidemiological activities

  • Optimize epidemiological processes across regions globally, set standards for utilization of epidemiology approach, provide methodological leadership, identify and validate external data sources for safety related Epidemiology needs.
  • Guide organization on proper use of automated health care databases for drug safety-related Epidemiologic studies.
  • Mentor junior staff in the design, execution, analysis, interpretation, and internal and external communication of specific epidemiological studies
  • Review and approve final epidemiology study synopses, protocols, and reports.
  • Provide strategic input to RMP/REMS and other safety related Health Authorities requirements.

Serve as a senior epidemiology expert

  • Serve as a senior epidemiology expert in both internal and external strategic projects, including interactions with Health Authorities.
  • Provide innovative thinking regarding the design of clinical and epidemiological programs, including noninterventional and interventional studies such as pragmatic trials.
  • Drive consensus among diverse scientific, technical, and business experts (often at the global level) so as to ensure scientific quality and adhere to ethical requirements.
  • Develop relationships with international opinion leaders.

Educational Requirements

  • Doctorate degree required: PhD/ScD in Epidemiology required, PhD/MD preferred

Job Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience required, with minimum 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry required. Safety-related epidemiology experience strongly preferred
  • At least 5 years of people management experience required
  • Experience in leading Epidemiology team to conduct advanced epidemiology studies to meet various needs including PASS studies and PMC/PMR studies. etc.
  • Excellent analytic, writing and communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong organizational leadership skills

Travel

10% travel requirement both international and domestic at least 10%.
