Estimators on the NAS Patuxent River team come from all areas of the Tri County of Southern Maryland including California, Ridge, Hollywood, Mechanicsville, Leonardtown, Waldorf, Laplata, Lusby, Solomons. Primary responsibility of the Estimator includes compiling estimates of how much it will cost to provide a customer or potential customer with products or services. The job involves assessing material, labor and equipment requirements, analyzing quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers. Estimators are responsible for evaluating bids against specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win a project. The ideal EMI Estimator will aggressively follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received.

Salary

$28.79 - $ 35.64/hr. (DOE) plus $4.57 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for drafting the project scope of work for all Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) projects

Solicits material and labor costs

Solicit bids from Sub Contractors

Review contracts for accuracy and completeness

Assists QC Inspectors with scope interpretations

Facilitate the Pre-Construction Meetings with Subcontractors

coordinate schedules, vehicle pass and contractor pass processing

Liaison with customer point of contact

Perform other related duties as assigned

Essential Skills

Negotiation and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of contractual language

Technical knowledge and training in electrical, mechanical, HVAC/BAS control systems

Knowledge of building architectural/structural elements

including alterations and repairs

Maintain confidentiality of information related to EMI Services, our customers, vendors and employees

Adaptable and flexible in work situations

Establish priorities to ensure completion of tasks in a timely manner

PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies

Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

5+ years preferred commercial and public construction estimating experience involving major projects

Training in Estimating Software

Knowledge of regulatory guidelines, particularly provisions of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation

Regular, dependable attendance

Valid driver's license

Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check

U.S. citizenship to Obtain and maintain access to military installations

Physical Requirements

Carrying objects/boxes/print-outs short distances

Extensive work with a personal computer

May require lifting and moving as much as 50 pounds with assistance

Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking

Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping

May require climbing ladders and entering confined spaces

Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions
