Environmental/ NEPA Advisor ID: F97COR2-001 Location: Bayfield Program: FOREST Wage/Hr: $50.00 Hours/Week: 12 Minimum Age: 55 Home internet access required to be provided by enrollee. Computer and peripherals and access to gov't electronic files (Linc Pass) to be provided by the government. Qualifications: Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study. Proficiency in using USFS software and systems. Proficiency in USFS Region 2 NEPA processes and policies. Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, ARCVIEW (GIS) Adobe Pro; Pinyon Box, PALS/CARA Duties: Provide expert-level mentoring, knowledge, and guidance on USFS R2 NEPA, project planning, and project implementation procedures that are in compliance with agency and San Juan National Forest regulations, management guidance, and policies. Mentor USFS employees on USFS R2-specific processes and procedures related to NEPA, Colorado Roadless Areas, and Forest Plan maintenance. Mentor and assist with processing and analysis of public comments. 30% Provide professional level writer-editor reviews of documents to be provided to the public to ensure compliance with agency and 508 standards. 30% Pertinent to the San Juan National Forest and the Columbine Ranger District: Provide institutional corporate knowledge and background information. Interpret intent and details of past activities, decisions, and policies, including knowledge of Special Management Area regulations. 20% Attend field visits to provide experienced input on planning and implementation issues, including knowledge of local southwestern Colorado environmental and socio-political considerations. 20% Other: Travel Requirements: On-forest travel to meetings and field locations. Use and operation of Govt vehicle allowed. Physical requirements: General office setting physical requirements such as work at computer terminal. Field visits to project site locations may require driving and hiking in primitive conditions. Driving may be on primitive roads requiring use of high clearance 4WD. Hiking may be up to 10 miles in mountainous terrain at elevations up to 12,000 feet, and in unpredictable weather conditions.
