Hiring Department Environmental Health and Safety Job Description In this full-time role, the candidate will supervise the asbestos management program. Responsibilities include project management; liaising with other departments and external parties; conducting inspections, field studies, sample collections, and audits; and providing training and guidance in assigned areas. Job Functions: Supervise the Asbestos Management Program. This may include but is not limited to performing inspections and oversights; providing training and guidance; and carrying out other miscellaneous services to maintain campus compliance with asbestos regulations. Provide project management during jobs that involve asbestos abatement and building demolition. Act as the primary liaison between S&T and The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) Asbestos Program. Safely enter unmaintained spaces where suspect asbestos containing materials require inspection and sample collection. May also be required for other EHS duties as assigned. Supervise and/or conduct field studies and tests for environmental and safety conditions in and around S&T facilities. Assist Facility Operations and Design and Construction personnel with development of facilities safety programs and audit said programs. Determine and implement appropriate methods to reduce and/or eliminate hazardous conditions and unsafe acts. Act as a liaison between S&T EHS and S&T Construction and Design and S&T Facilities Operations. Maintain competency regarding federal and state environmental regulations applicable to Missouri S&T. Develop, revise, and/or audit programs to maintain compliance with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and other applicable environmental laws. Attend required training to maintain Missouri Asbestos Building Inspector license and Missouri Asbestos Abatement Supervisor license. Attend professional development opportunities to maintain knowledge and skills for the position. Shift Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and education and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Ability to wear a respirator is required Preferred Qualifications A bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Asbestos Building Inspector License with MDNR. Strong knowledge of MDNR Asbestos Regulations Strong knowledge of MDNR Air, Water, and Hazardous Waste Regulations Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $20.00-$30.00 hourly. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
