JOB SUMMARY: With minimal direction continually performs professional work in all Environmental Health programs with specific emphasis in the Private, Semi-Private, Closed Loop and Non-Community Water Supplies and Private Sewage Programs. Participates in the planning, development, implementation, staff training and enforcement and oversight of these programs. Comfortable in a fast paced, high volume, multi-tasking workplace. Team oriented environment. JOB FUNCTION: Key responsibilities include: Coordination of environmental health practitioner staff assignments. Permit application reviews including onsite inspections. Staff training. Quality assurance and customer satisfaction. Liaison with other governmental agencies. Public education and maintaining specific databases. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University with a minimum of 30 semester hours or equivalent of basic sciences acceptable to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Eligible candidate should be a licensed Environmental Health Practitioner with three (3) years' experience in Environmental Health and Preferably two (2) years' experience in a private sewage and/or potable water program and/or water laboratory. May consider an applicant without licensure provided the applicant has relevant experience and meets the minimum qualifications to become licensed within 1 year. Other Requirements: All Health Department staff are required to be up to date on the Covid vaccination series as determined by the CDC, including the most current booster from September 2023 as a term and condition of employment with the Department.
