Position Overview Chewy is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Intern to join our team for the summer of 2024. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in environmental health and safety to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced e-commerce environment. Internship Timeframe: June 3rd - August 9th 2024 (must be available for full duration) Qualified Students: Rising Seniors What You'll Do Assist the EHS team in conducting risk assessments and implementing controls to mitigate hazards in the workplace. Participate in the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Assist in conducting safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout the organization. Assist in the development and delivery of EHS training programs to educate employees on safety practices and procedures. Support environmental initiatives, such as waste reduction, recycling, and energy conservation efforts. Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting to track key performance indicators and measure the effectiveness of EHS programs. Receive hands-on experience in a leading e-commerce company with exposure to a wide range of EHS activities. Receive Mentorship from experienced professionals in the field of environmental health and safety. Have networking opportunities with professionals across different departments within Chewy. What You'll Need Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Prior internship or work experience in environmental health and safety is a plus. Familiarity with OSHA regulations and environmental management systems (ISO 14001) is desirable.
