Clarke of Roselle, IL, is seeking to hire an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, that will be responsible for directing and implementing programs to ensure a safe, healthy, accident free and regulatory compliant work environment within our Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams.

This is a very hands-on role that will actively partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to foster a culture and climate of high employee engagement.

Activities will include:

  • Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, recordkeeping, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage Supply Chain chemical waste inventory to ensure proper disposal of all RCRA and non-RCRA chemical waste and containers.
  • Lead the investigations of accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine root causes, install preventive measures, and provide guidance related to return-to-work activities.
  • Develop and maintain EHS programs to include Lock Out/Tag Out, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work and Hazcomm.
  • Perform Industrial Hygiene surveys as appropriate at assigned locations.
  • Conduct safety and compliance training for Supply Chain employees at assigned locations.
  • Provide counsel and assistance to supervisory and management personnel in the enforcement of safety policies and procedures. If, and when necessary, take active role to ensure that appropriate correction actions are implemented.
  • Establish and maintain practices and procedures to ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations as they relate to core job responsibilities.
  • Manage SWPPP and SPCC plans at assigned locations.

WORK SCHEDULE AND SALARY

This position earns a competitive salary and generally works 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday (end times may vary based on business needs).

As an EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for enhancing our EHS programs, improving safety, helping to document process improvements and providing general support on a daily basis. Your contributions will provide immediate results to the efficient and safe production of public health mosquito control products that help make people and communities around the world more livable, safe and comfortable.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST

  • College degree in related field required
  • 2-4 years experience in environmental compliance and hazardous waste management, with specific expertise or experience in RCRA regulations
  • Proficient in OSHA and Workers Compensation regulations as well as best practices in workplace safety
  • 1-2 years previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
  • Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms, ability to compose and appropriately format business memos and other written correspondence
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be detail orientated, self motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Have a valid Drivers License with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to bend and lift approximately 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Must be able to wear a respirator, when required, while performing necessary duties
  • Comfortable performing assigned duties in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
