ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Assists in the development of measurable safety performance objectives and supports the implementation of safety policies, processes, procedures and training programs in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations across multiple locations. Oversees the delivery of all EHS and DOT training and ensures that all employees, supervisors and managers are trained in required subjects. Directs workers compensation activities with Safety Managers, including managing initial injury intervention, injury reporting, medical management, and injury investigation. Works closely with compensation carrier to manage work related injuries and manage program costs. Verifies that various sites maintain all required EHS records, including but not limited to: training certifications, material safety data sheets (MSDS), hazardous chemical inventory lists, industrial hygiene monitoring data, environmental permits, driver qualification files (DQF's), etc Works with local management and Safety Managers to establish regularly scheduled safety meetings with facility personnel on pertinent safety topics. Ensures corrective measures are implemented in a timely and effective manner. Holds other safety meetings in support of facility objectives. Verifies that DOT drug testing meets pre-employment, random and post-accident/post-injury testing, regulatory and company standards. Serves as the Certified Designated Employer Representative for administering the company's substance abuse testing program. Verifies that driver evaluations and re-evaluations are conducted in accordance with company standards. Supports driver accident activities, including investigation and discipline, when necessary. Ensures safety observations are completed and manages the resulting action log, including any corrective actions that are required. Works closely with Environmental Coordinator to ensure compliance through training, documentation of training, and to meet DEP, EPA, and related agencies' requirements. Conducts monthly building/safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards/safety issues. Works in conjunction with Department Managers and Safety Managers to implement corrective and preventive actions for injury avoidance. Inspects safety equipment or ensures the inspection of safety equipment to validate that it works properly (ex. eye wash stations, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers). On an on-going basis recommends changes in safety program to lower accident frequency or severity and recommends acquisition of new equipment to minimize occupational hazards. Coordinate EHS testing for the facility and employees (ex. noise evaluations, hearing tests, biological monitoring, etc) and ensure 100% compliance. Provides accurate and timely reporting and information to various functions. Maintains and updates all safety related records and KPIs as needed. Ensures compliance with developed emergency and evacuation procedures. Maintains professional EHS affiliations to be well-informed of new developments and innovations in terms of EHS safety and education. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Strong environmental compliance and DOT experience. Ability to detect hazards and review and analyze technical safety related information. Ability to conduct thorough safety audits and investigations and prepare comprehensive summaries/recommendations. Must have strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Requires effective oral/presentation and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and/or facts and recommendations effectively. Interpersonal skills with ability to professionally interact with all levels of personnel required. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage projects to ensure effective implementation. Deep analytical, problem solving, and follow-up skills. Self-motivated individual with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Possesses minimum 5 years relevant Environmental Health and Safety experience in manufacturing and/or supply chain environment within a union environment. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety Management or relevant discipline required. Must have minimum 3 years of direct supervisory experience. Experience developing and executing safety standards, education and training programs and Standard Operating Procedures. Prior beverage distribution or transportation industry experience preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Registered EMT or First Aid and CPR Certified preferred. Must maintain a valid Driver's License. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL Must be willing to travel up to 40%-50% of time in and out of state to support enterprise activities. Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
