If you want to work for a reputable company with a strong brand and a vision for the future, Pella Corporation is interested in YOU SUMMARY: Responsible for implementing environmental, health and safety programs, policies, and procedures at a specific Pella Corporation facility to minimize risk and loss. Must be thoroughly familiar with industrial EHS regulations promulgated by federal and state level OSHA and EPA. Will lead Safety team members and the site's safety training and development with identifying training needs, developing and conducting training sessions, and measuring training effectiveness. Will also lead the site's Emergency Response Team. In addition, will coordinate and support the safety and environmental audits and inspection processes at their site and participate in audits at other corporate facilities. And finally, will assist the Corporate Environmental, Safety, and Facilities Team, Operations Director, and Site Plant Manager with efforts to incorporate Safety with Quality, Productivity, and other business objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develop and implements processes and procedures for continuous compliance with all safety/environmental regulations and internal policies daily. Advises Plant staff at the specific location on safety initiatives and programs to eliminate hazards. Supports recordkeeping processes that ensure continuous compliance with all applicable OSHA and EPA regulations. Gathers, analyzes, and summarizes injury and incident data. Reviews Incident Prevention Reports generated at the specific site. Responsible for driving improvements in the Incident Prevention processes. Negotiates terms and agreements with state and/or federal OSHA regulators if necessary. Reads, interprets, and communicates safety regulations to affected stakeholders at the site. Provides training to factory hourly team, managers, and engineers on how to effectively comply with all applicable safety regulations. Assists the staff in preparing annual budgets, strategic 3-year planning, and safety reports. Provides leadership to the site's safety committees and teams. Responsible for leading the site's machine inspection processes for both new and existing equipment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises safety team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and certifying employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
