This position responds to and ensures proper cleanup of fuel, chemical, and other fluid spills. Other responsibilities include assisting with environmental audits and ensures compliance with environmental regulations. This position will be on 24-hour call and may be required to respond either telephonically or in-person, depending upon the incident's severity. Essential Job Duties: Routinely performs on-site environmental inspections of airport infrastructure such as runways, terminals, hangars, and drainage structures. Performs environmental audits related to Industrial NPDES Permits at BNA and JWN, including review of tenant records and material storage and handling practices. Utilizes the MNAA Geographic Information System (GIS) to record inspection activities. Identifies deficiencies and needed repairs and arranges for these to be fixed, documenting them in GIS as well. Acts as an environmental first responder in the event of an incident. Provides oversight and follow-up of any spill clean-up activities and acts as part of the MNAA Spill Response Team, as needed. Assists with annual spill response training for MNAA personnel. Coordinates with Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and personnel from Metropolitan Government of Nashville-Davidson County (Metro) for the issuance of permits. Escorts regulatory inspectors and agency representatives during inspections, as necessary. Makes recommendations and develops plans of action based on the results of periodic inspections. Identifies and reports construction problems related to environmental compliance. Monitors the cleaning of oil water separators and water quality structures. Coordinates with tenants, contractors and MNAA personnel to perform these tasks. Provides redundancy for water treatment plant operations. Attends training classes for environmental compliance programs. Monitors fuel storage and consumption as well as air emission permitting. Coordinates various other tasks related to environmental stewardship and compliance. Maintains regular and on-time attendance. Follows all safety regulations. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics: Environmental Regulations: Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements related to airport operations and environmental compliance. Computer Use: Skill in using a personal computer, the internet, and other software to perform job-related functions. Database Management: Skill in establishing and maintaining databases, spreadsheets, and other applicable computer software applications. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's Degree in a related field. 1-5 years of experience in an environmental related field with a Bachelor's Degree. 10 years of experience without a degree. Valid CLASS D Driver's License OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification (within 180 days upon hire). Tennessee Level I Erosion Protection and Sediment control (EPSC) Certification (within 180 days upon hire). Airfield Operations Area Driving License (within 180 days upon hire).
