Timken's Philadelphia Gear brand is seeking a part time Engineering Trainee in the greater Philadelphia area to work at the King of Prussia, PA office. The Engineering Trainee will assist with design of helical and bevel gear, precision gear and coarse pitch industrial open gear elements and systems. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
•   Responsible for assisting in the development of product designs including assemblies, bills of materials, parts lists and detail drawings in conformance with customer order requirements.
•   Assist in the performance of gear design and heat treatment analytical activities as required.
•   Assist in the support of application engineering, field sales, service and manufacturing functions (King of Prussia and Regional Service Centers) on technical matters as required.
•   Assist in the analyses of customer order content and customer specifications.
•   Assists King of Prussia engineers with disposition of deviations and resolution of Regional Service Center manufacturing, assembly, and installation problems.
•   Assists in the determination of manufacturability, cost effectiveness, safety and quality of gear drive unit or component designs .
•   Completes tasks in a dependable and thorough manner within required time frame.
•   Functions in a teamwork atmosphere for all endeavors.
•   Assists in establishment, maintenance and improvement of heat treatment and other metallurgical practices in a fashion compliant with ISO, customer and industry standards.
•   Assists in approval of and provision of surveillance support for all vendors of materials and processes other than machining. Key attributes include the ability to multi-task, set priorities, meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and organization, set goals, ability to work as part of a team and the ability to interact with all levels of customers and internal support teams. Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office software), strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
