Duties Serve as Engineering Technician, accomplishing the full range of technical activity required for life-cycle project management on complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity. Assignments include planning, interpreting, modifying, and adapting standards guides; designing and developing plans and specifications; and preparing estimates of materials and costs. Coordinate architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and mechanical materials/ installation for large and small contracts. Applicable projects cover new construction, alteration, modification, maintenance, and repair of existing real property facilities. Incumbent is totally responsible for completed work and has delegated authority to represent the Directorate concerning decisions or changes in assigned projects throughout their life-cycle. Ensuring Contractor Performance and output is consistent with contract plans, specifications and safety requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. GS-10 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes engineering technician in the fields of engineering (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical, fire etc.); perform installation, maintenance, operation, and testing duties; and oral/written communication skills. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes engineering technician in the fields of engineering (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical, fire etc.); developing standard guides to include items such as plans and specifications, estimate of materials and cost.; perform installation, maintenance, operation, and testing duties; and presenting written and oral technical and non-technical information.
