Description of Job Duties:

The Field Operator operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs instrumentation, mechanical and electrical equipment including, but is not limited to the process demonstration unit, pumps, and other auxiliary equipment. The Field Operator assists in the safe start-up, operation, and shutdown of plant equipment from outside the control room, strictly adhering to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety. The Field Operator works under the direction of Plant Management and Shift Supervisor providing recommendations and input to the staff in the operation of all plant systems and attaining performance goals for the facility. A successful Field Operator ensures safe and efficient operation of the feed and melt system, reactor, regenerator, main column, related auxiliaries, and balance of plant systems from outside the control room. Start-up, operation, and shutdown of equipment, systems, and the plant in accordance with approved plant procedures, technical manuals and as directed by the Control Room Operator. Monitor and record local operating parameters, adjusting as required to maintain safe and efficient operation. Supports the Board Operators in the proper operation of the operating facility with minimal guidance or assistance. Competently operates and maintains all plant equipment. Capable of operating plant equipment locally via PLC panel interfaces. Communicates plant issues and keeps Board Operators fully informed of plant operations, unusual conditions, and faulty equipment. Fully supports the use of a computerized maintenance management system by displaying a proficiency in using the system, entering data consistent with the facility maintenance philosophy. Handles corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance work orders in a timely and high-quality manner as assigned. Visually inspects and listens to equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication. Monitor plant air and water emissions from outside the control room and take steps to maintain within acceptable limits notifying Board Operator of abnormal situations. Observe, report, troubleshoot, and correct situations that are likely to develop into operational problems or safety hazards. Report and respond to chemical spills and leaks in accordance with plant emergency response plans. Monitor and operate equipment as directed by the Board Operator for safe and efficient operation of the plant. This includes opening, locking, and tagging for isolation and maintenance. Obtain thorough turnover from Field Operator being relieved, including special orders and unusual operating conditions. Review operating logs and inspect plant equipment, controls, and indications. As directed by the Board Operator, perform periodic tests on critical plant systems and equipment including lube oil pumps, turbine valves, turbine system trips, and boiler trips. Test and operate plant fire and chemical safety equipment as directed. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly condition. Report all maintenance activities to the Board Operator. Participate in scheduled safety meetings and training. Safely operate vehicles on-site as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Board Operator and Shift Lead

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

HS Diploma or Equivalent is required

Must have computer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

Must be able to work 24/7 shift work it will be required

Must have a minimium of 3-5 years of past industry expeirnce in chemical/ petrochemical plant start-ups, operations, and shutdown, including manual plant operations activities in the field

Hands on mechanical, i nstrumentation and electrical equipment a s part of an operating chemical facil ity knowledge is required.

Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of chemical or proce ss demonstration unit plant operations.

Demon strates the ability to ma ke competent decisions in emergency situations.

Experi ence responding to plant abnormal s i t uat i ons, alarms, and emergen ci es.

Knowledge of the location , purpose and proper use of the plan t safety equipment.

Experience in the monitoring and identification of rotating e quip me nt proble ms, and communicating thes e i mmedi a tely to s hi ft lead .

Experience i n Environmental Protection, including associated plant systems , equipment, limits , a nd regulat o ry reporting requirements.

Demonstrates good verbal and wr itte n communication skills.

The ability to understand policies , procedures , and instructions.

Thorough knowledge of the purpose and proper use of the plant safety equipment.

Knowledge of equipment isolation and tagging procedures.

"Ex ce llent teamwork sk ills requ ire d. " Ability to walk, reach, climb , stoop, and lift (up to 75 pounds assisted)

MVR is Required

Must have steel toed boots Must be able to work in outdoor weather

Will be trained on a forklift and golfcart

Dress code: Collard Shirt & jeans

Monday -Friday

8 am - 5 pm normal shift but must be able to work different shifts within a 24/7 work enviroment
