Job Purpose

Responsibilities includes providing trackside engineering support to HRC customer/partner racing teams. Overseeing the operation of the powertrain supplied to a customer team, ensuring the key goals of performance, drivability and reliability are met, and lead other trackside engineers. In addition, the position will demand interaction with multiple groups within HRC and the race team to create/confirm powertrain/chassis/electronics installation into customer race cars, support requests from HRC and racing teams, and ensure project goals and deliverables are met. This position is the representative of Honda at the track and a technical leader who will make key decisions at the track regarding powertrain/chassis performance, powertrain health, and test/race completion. Role will be based at either HRC-CA or HRC-IN location.

Requirements: BS Degree in Mechanical (or similar) Engineering with emphasis in IC engines and hybrid powertrains or equivalent work experience with 7 years of experience in engineering support of high-performance race powertrains, and system design and development; internal combustion race engines and related mechanical and electronic systems; electric hybrid powertrain, and previous technical writing and reporting required. Previous data analysis and database experience required. Extensive experience with racing powertrains and related mechanical and electronic systems. Race and test engineering and technical liaison support. Thorough understanding of high-performance engines/vehicles, both theoretical and practical experience.


• 7 years of both theoretical and practical IC engines; powertrains, on-board engine management telemetry; data acquisition systems; data analysis and problem-solving of experience.

• Knowledge of engine controls systems, control system tuning.

• Ability to read schematic drawings.

• Hands-on experience with specialized engine measurement equipment

• Competent hands-on skills with a variety of hand tools

• Excellent computing skills, competent with main Microsoft products, Cosworth and McLaren analysis software

• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, ability to make data driven decisions

• Effective interpersonal skills

• Effective use of data mining and tool creation

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work in team environment and under minimal supervision

• Ability to be self-directed, detailed oriented who can effectively work well under pressure in a diverse environment

• Ability to effectively interface with various personality types.

• Ability to lead effectively and ability to travel
