Job Details

We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly qualified Employment and Labor Attorney to join our thriving Legal team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert legal advice and guidance on a wide range of employment and labor law issues. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and influencing our organization's employment policies and practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This role will also involve representing the organization in employment litigation matters, offering the chance to showcase your exceptional negotiation and advocacy skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of employment and labor law issues, including but not limited to, employee discipline, terminations, accommodations, leave management, wage and hour issues, and non-compete agreements.
  • Draft, review, and revise company policies, procedures, and other employment-related documents to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Represent the organization in employment litigation matters before federal and state courts, arbitration panels, and administrative agencies.
  • Conduct internal investigations in response to employee complaints and advise management on appropriate actions.
  • Train and educate management and HR personnel on employment law issues and best practices to foster a compliant and inclusive workplace environment.
  • Participate in the negotiation and drafting of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Stay abreast of latest developments in employment and labor law and proactively advise management on potential impacts and necessary changes to company policies and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the state and in good standing with the Nebraska state bar.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in employment law and employment litigation.
  • Proven experience in labor law and labor litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret laws, regulations, and court decisions and apply them to specific situations.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
