Employee Relations Lead

Adyen is looking for an Employee Relations Lead to contribute to the growth and scale of our teams and culture across North America, where we recently won the 2024 Built in Best Places to Work award.

In this role, you will be working with HR Business Partners, HR Innovations, managers, leaders and employees across North America to ensure that we are creating a positive working environment and to support the successful navigation through challenging moments. You will work closely with leaders to challenge and coach them on best practices to ensure we are creating the best experience and ways of working for our employees.

What You'll Do:
  • In partnership with the HRBPs and business responsible for building and developing long term forward-thinking scalable programs, processes and practices that further enhance the employee relations experience as we grow the NORAM region.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to understand root causes and trends across North America. Use this information to identify both short term and long term actions/programs across the region.
  • Create repeatable and scalable employee relations processes to ensure we are able to resolve different levels of complexity at speed as we grow.
  • Coach and train leaders and HRBPs as needed and develop employee relations content including the creation of communications, training materials, and a knowledge-sharing library, etc. to educate stakeholders on new and revised policies, laws, processes, and programs
  • Lead and conduct employee relations issues and investigations, through to resolution, into employee complaints, grievances, allegations of misconduct, retaliation or policy violations of company policy and employment law, maintaining confidentiality and impartiality throughout the process.
  • Ensures that investigations/disciplinary processes are handled in a fair, timely and consistent manner aligned with local requirements and laws.
  • Serve as a sparring partner and coach for leadership and HRBP team in these areas in line with our culture.
  • Stay up to date with labor laws, employment regulations, and industry best practices
  • Call into question when needed on manager thinking and partner with them to make decisions for the good of the whole business
  • Foster an environment rich in diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Partner with the HR Innovations team (as applicable) to get things done in a timely manner and provide our employees a seamless employment experience
Who You Are:
  • You have a minimum 7+ years HR experience including at least 4+ years' experience in Employee Relations working with managers and leaders at all levels of employee relations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in ER practices, including investigations and performance management
  • You have a strong sense of self and build trust quickly to become a trusted advisor at all levels of the organization
  • You have a continuous improvement mindset centered on enforcing our company's culture while mitigating risk and increasing organizational efficiency
  • You are able to question the status quo with managers and work with them to define new solutions to old problems
  • You are well versed in organizational dynamics, know what healthy, motivated, growing teams look like, and can give guidance on what to do to make this even better;
  • You're hands-on, but know how to collaborate and prioritize (constantly looking for how things can be done more simply or automated)
  • You're excited to try new approaches, do things differently, and aren't afraid to "build as you go"
  • You're a change agent who thrives in a fast paced environment and can effectively engage those around you to get them excited about the future
  • Skilled in identifying problems and able to use fact-based analysis to develop efficient solutions.
  • Excellent at communicating a point of view using both written and oral communication skills
