As a Major Accounts Benefits Consultant specializing in both Fully-Insured and Self-Insured Groups, you will play a pivotal role in advising and supporting large organizations that rely on fully-insured benefit plans for their employees. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate closely with clients to understand their unique needs, assess market trends, and develop comprehensive benefit strategies that align with their business objectives. Leveraging your expertise in employee benefits, insurance products, and industry regulations, you will design and implement tailored benefit solutions to optimize coverage, control costs, and enhance employee satisfaction.


Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders within assigned large employers, including senior executives, HR leaders, and benefits administrators.

Needs Assessment: Conduct thorough analyses of clients' benefit programs, demographic profiles, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Strategic Planning: Collaborate with clients to develop strategic benefit plans and long-term initiatives that address their unique goals, budget constraints, and workforce dynamics.

Plan Design and Selection: Evaluate and recommend appropriate insurance carriers, plan options, and coverage levels to meet clients' specific needs while balancing cost considerations and employee preferences.

Cost Containment Strategies: Implement proactive measures to manage healthcare costs, such as wellness initiatives, network optimization, and utilization management programs, to ensure sustainable financial performance.

Compliance and Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of relevant federal and state regulations, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA, and ensure clients' benefit programs remain compliant with all legal requirements.

Vendor Management: Evaluate and negotiate contracts with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and other service providers to ensure competitive pricing, service quality, and contractual compliance.

Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data analytics tools to analyze claims data, utilization patterns, and performance metrics, providing clients with actionable insights and recommendations for program improvement.

Employee Communication and Education: Develop and deliver clear, concise communication materials, including benefit summaries, enrollment guides, and educational seminars, to help employees understand their benefit options and make informed decisions.

Continuous Improvement: Monitor the effectiveness of benefit programs through regular performance reviews, benchmarking studies, and client feedback, recommending adjustments and enhancements as needed to drive better outcomes and satisfaction.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in employee benefits consulting, insurance brokerage, or related fields, with a focus on large employers.
  • Deep understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles, and benefit plan design strategies.
  • Ability to share information about employer data analytics and financial reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality consulting services and driving positive outcomes for clients.
  • Industry certifications such as CEBS, REBC, GBA, or PHR preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and benefit administration software.
