Embedded Systems Security EngineerRacine, WIA leading embedded device company located in Racine, WI is looking for a security engineer to help them work on securing their products. These products include embedded C/C software and run primarily on Linux and Windows systems. Anybody with experience in these technologies would be encouraged to apply. This role can be a remote hire, however those in and around Racine willing to work on a hybrid schedule will be given preference.
Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled and passionate Embedded Systems Security Engineer to enhance the security posture of our embedded devices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of embedded systems, possess expertise in security protocols, and be adept at implementing robust security measures to safeguard our products from potential threats.
Responsibilities: - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security features into the design and development of embedded systems.
- Conduct security assessments and vulnerability analyses on embedded devices to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Design and implement secure communication protocols for embedded systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Develop and maintain security guidelines and best practices for embedded systems development.
- Stay abreast of the latest security threats and technologies, implementing proactive measures to protect against emerging risks.
- Work closely with hardware and software engineers to ensure a comprehensive and cohesive security strategy for embedded devices.
- Participate in the development of security documentation and provide training to internal teams as needed.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in embedded systems security, with a focus on threat modeling, risk assessment, and security implementation.
- Strong programming skills in C and C .
- Familiarity with common communication protocols used in embedded systems (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C) and experience securing them.
- Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and protocols.
- Experience with secure boot, firmware update mechanisms, and secure storage on embedded devices.
- Understanding of hardware security mechanisms, such as TrustZone or secure elements.
- Familiarity with common security standards and certifications (e.g., Common Criteria, FIPS, ISO 27001).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
