In addition to normal success coaching responsibilities, the Embedded Success Coach provides classroom-based support and interventions as well as one-on-one and group coaching with students. The Embedded Success Coach interactions place an emphasis on minimizing barriers and providing individualized care to support students. This role will serve as a student's point of contact for concerns, issues, and needs and will provide support for students to grow in self-efficacy. This coach also assists students in working with other college departments to access resources and assistance where needed. As part of this role, the success coach will be embedded into specific courses and be responsible for coaching-related services, appointments, presentations, and participation in related college events. This position will work closely with the Student Success Coaching team, Academic Division faculty and staff, and the Enrollment Management and Student Success team. The Embedded Success Coach also assists with campus-based training for staff on coaching strategies and assists with the assessment of the learning outcomes established for the program. Develop and conduct one-on-one and group coaching sessions with assigned cohorts that promote success by empowering students to take ownership of their education and by partnering with students to identify and achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals. Provide high-touch coaching, content-related presentations and workshops both inside and outside the classroom as an embedded classroom coach. Support students in the acquisition of strategies and skills necessary to succeed in STEM and STEM-related courses, majors, and/or programs. Plan and provide workshops that address common obstacles faced by students in STEM-related courses, majors, and/or programs. Collaborate with STEM faculty and staff to organize and develop all aspects of embedded coaching services. Coach students to develop individualized success plans to improve overall college persistence. Document coaching session outcomes and track progress via reports developed through college resources. Follow all FERPA regulations. Engage identified students through a variety of communications and proactive outreach. Assist with training of other college staff to increase the effectiveness of student interactions across the college. Assist with division initiatives and projects that enhance the student experience and promote retention efforts. Perform other duties as assigned. OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY: The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.Education Required: Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred - Bachelor's degree in STEM field or STEM education; Master's degree in STEM field or STEM education Experience Required: Required: Minimum of at least one year of experience working in an environment coaching college students or adults with a focus on goal achievement, overcoming obstacles, and developing skills to grow as a student and professional. Preferred: Knowledge of a STEM disciplinary field and learning processes and practices required to achieve success in STEM fields. Demonstrated experience in learning support programs and/or professional student success programs, departments, or centers. Demonstrated experience working with diverse individuals of all ages from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds with a focus on accessing college and community resources. At least one year of experience developing content and facilitating workshops and conducting training to support students. Experience working with community college students, specifically students needing overall college preparation and/or readiness skills. Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements: Commitment to and understanding of the varying needs of students, particularly those who are academically at risk. Experience using technology for organization, communication, assessment, and program development. Knowledge and awareness of current research related to student success strategies, advising frameworks, and coaching practices. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with academic and student service team members. Experience assisting with the creation, implementation, and facilitation of new initiatives from concept to full implementation. Strong verbal, presentation, writing, and listening skills Interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to cultivate effective relationships with a wide range of individuals (faculty, administrators, staff, students, and family members) and to work cross-functionally. INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS: Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
