Duties Identifies and assesses the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individual students and student groups, as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. Uses assessment and observational data about the student(s) environment in developing appropriate interventions and educational recommendations. Facilitates student groups and individual counseling as necessary. Participates in district and building SEL committees. Conducts targeted student observations and provides follow-up consultation at request of teacher, principal, or Student Services Team member. Consults with staff regarding: behavior management, learning problems/expectations, interpretation of psychological data/test results, parent conferencing, and interpretation of data/evaluation reports from outside agencies. Responds to parent and teacher requests for evaluations in accordance with Illinois law. Facilitates and promotes restorative practices with individual students, groups of students and staff. Conducts student evaluations and reevaluations for students placed in special education programs and those newly referred for consideration of special education services. Facilitates and serves as LEA at IEP meetings. Integrates CCSD89 practices around equity and inclusivity into daily work and relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Attends and actively participates in Student Support Team meetings, MTSS meetings, and IEP meetings to support the teaching process, contribute specific student information and assist with recommendations for interventions and special education eligibility/programming. Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school staff in these capacities. Facilitates MTSS meetings in collaboration with the building principal, including individual and grade-level planning meetings. Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice. Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skills. Qualifications Completion of requirements for a Master's degree with a major appropriate to the assignment. Licensed in the State of Illinois as a School Psychologist. Certificate to be registered in DuPage County. Other qualifications of academic, professional, and personal excellence as the Board may specify. Make decisions and demonstrate support of the mission, vision, goals and interests of the school district and of students. To direct and supervise the conduct of all students within school facilities and grounds. To recommend changes and improvements in the curriculum to the principal and/or appropriate curriculum committees. To recommend the assignment of students and modification of educational programs. To seek assistance from or through the principal, the assistant principal, supportive services staff or other specialists to improve the instructional program, or to help solve specific problems.
