Performs technical work requiring competency in all conventional aspects of the mechanical engineering department. Conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluations, selection and the adaptation of standard techniques, procedures and criteria; devises new approaches to problems as encountered. Performs technical work requiring some independent evaluation, selection and application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria within electrical engineering. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables, requiring knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures within electrical engineering. Conducts work requiring judgement in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaption of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Devices new approaches to problems as encountered. Plans and conducts projects on a limited scope or portions of a larger projects. Provides guidance and direction to lower level engineering technicians on project related activities. Works with internal departments as well as vendors and equipment suppliers to resolve issues and coordinate work in support of objectives. Ensures safety procedures are observed and leads by example. Conducts various electrical engineer technical tasks of moderate scope or degree of difficulty, under limited supervision from the direct supervisor or a member of the engineering staff. Contributes to test protocol development, performs test protocols and records appropriate information. Tasks may require adaption/re-design efforts. Sets up, operates and adjusts standard equipment and records appropriate information. Maintains communications within department in support of electrical engineering, such as team meetings. Participates and contributes to some decision-making process of limited impact to overall project. Develops tests and/or validates development tools of moderate complexity. Compiles metrics and engineering data including validation testing output, etc. Complies records an data associated with electrical engineering to include drawings/schematics, validation/capability testing etc. Participates in facilitated training and development programs designed to increase knowledge in issues related to medical device development, such as GMP, Quality Systems, etc., as well as their application at . Collects troubleshooting data and supports analysis; prepares reports on findings and recommendations. Develops writes, and maintains documents related to development SOP's and procedures. Provides assistance to engineers with writing DVT's engineering report, engineering investigations, WICO's and DR's. Supports product development/transition into production efforts. This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site). Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement. Works under some functional supervision, usually taking direction from supervisor or engineering project leader. Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Operates with a some amount of latitude and freedom to act; supervisory review/approval required only on new project plans, or significant changes to existing plans. Within these constraints, may provide assistance in leading minor projects, selects suppliers and contributes to supplier technical improvements; develops plans, conducts tests and evaluates results; coordinates record keeping fo engineering data and related drawings; designs components or parts; performs troubleshooting requiring expertise related to electrical engineering. No sign or budgetary authority. May generate purchases against pre-approved, open purchase orders. Work direction is provided by the supervisor or the engineering project leader of the team assigned to. This position has not authority to delegate assigned work without prior approval of supervisor or project engineer. Work may be delegated to junior technicians of the project team. May give limited direction or technical advice to less experienced engineering technicians who assist him/her on specific assignments or others within work unit. Due to limited supervisory oversight, errors in judgment may cause loss in terms of project delays, resources, etc. However, the checks and balances built into engineering processes and procedures should identify problems within a reasonable time frame. Has full access to proprietary information on projects, designs, and processes. Interfaces within departments, primarily engineering units no customer or general public contact.

Qualifications:
Two-year Vo-Tech Certificate in electronics or related technical field and seven or more years progressive experience as an engineering technician in a electrical engineering or testing organization; High School diploma or equivalent and twelve years progressive experience as an engineering technician in a related position within a manufacturing or testing organization also meets minimum requirements. This is the third-step position along the engineering technician career path. To qualify for internal promotion, the most recent annual performance appraisal as an Engineering Technician III must be at "Exceeds Position Requirements " level, or above. Certified IPC specialist (CIS) that meets the IPC-A610 Standard for Acceptance Criteria for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies preferred. Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical theory related to medical devices and practice is required. Basic technical drawing/drafting skill. Knowledge and skill in engineering record keeping procedures and methods, with the ability to rapidly master internal procedures and methods. Knowledge of QSSOPs, GMP/FDA/ISO 9001, etc., principles and ability to integrate into software engineering discipline. Education requirements can be obtained through an educational institution or gained through equivalent work experience. Ability to assist in projects of limited scope and impact or portion of a major project. Uses judgement in the planning, scheduling and coordinating of project phases and resources, as well as the selection of techniques and criteria. Strong analytical and problem solving skills required. Ability to guide project team members in troubleshooting and carrying out project related activities. Possesses and applies a knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in electrical technology in order to complete assignments of significant difficulty. Knowledge is evidenced by past job progression/performance. Ability to read electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings. Ability to provide guidance and direction to lower level engineering technicians. Ability to produce good verbal and written communication. Uses judgment to make minor adaptations and modifications to conventional techniques. Demonstrated verbal communication skills. Ability to work with engineering staff members and with other groups in the company in an effective and leadership manner. Ability to provide guidance to new team member, peers, and lower level engineering technicians. Ability to assist in the design of small fixtures, testers, and assembly aids for production.
