The Installation Technician provides hands-on leadership of industrial control field installation projects requiring 6 team members or less. This role is responsible for work planning, project contributions and oversight, customer service, and mentoring of the installation team. Coordinates with customer contacts to execute projects and ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures company safety and quality standards are followed.
  • Work planning with focus on quality, schedule, productivity, and career growth.
  • Acts as the customer point of contact for project planning and execution.
  • Engages customers while onsite to seek follow up on project opportunities.
  • Arranges travel plans and transport for personnel, tools, and materials.
  • Ensures organization of all tools and inventory.
  • Performs demolition of old equipment.
  • Assembles and modifies custom control enclosures and devices per electrical schematics and installation plan documents.
  • Works with Engineering to test, check out, and troubleshoot large, complex systems.
  • Runs wiring and conduit for installation of equipment and systems at customer work sites.
  • Assists in quoting activities by providing estimates of labor, materials, and tools.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Delivers training material.
  • Drives company trucks and vans with trailers.
  • Operates forklifts and manlifts.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Electrician or Journeyman
  • Two-year technical school, trade school, electrical apprenticeship program, contractor's license or other related industry certificates or licensure a plus.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Seven or more years of experience in any of the following or equivalent experience:
  • Industrial electrical control maintenance
  • Industrial electrical construction and/or service
  • OEM experience with major manufacturing companies
  • System Integration and/or Automation equipment installation

Skills

  • Project management.
  • Work planning.
  • Providing technical instructions and critique
  • Reference and interpretation of electrical codes (e.g. NEC, NFPA, UL).
  • Understands schematics.
  • Strong electrical fundamentals.
  • Mechanical and layout skills with enclosures, conduit, and tray.

  • Working periodically in an attic or crawl space.
  • Working in wash-down locations with wet/slippery floors.
  • Must be physically capable of operating company vehicles and equipment safely.

Work Schedule Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Flexibility often required for short notice schedule changes. Regular travel and overnight stays are required for projects out of town.
