Help Duties You will install, connect and repair electrical cables and wiring systems for ship's power, light, communications, radar, sonar, fire control, missile, radio, nuclear control and indication and control systems. You will test and identify various cables and circuits. You will inspect battery compartments for proper ventilation. You will use various electrical tools as required and electrical instruments. You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION, performing the following duties: Applying skills of electrical symbols, instructions and descriptions to accomplish work assigned. Preparing cable requirements, installing and laying out wireways, hull and bulkhead penetrations, while taking into consideration load requirements of electrical equipment. Troubleshooting assigned systems to determine and correct malfunctions. Using soldering irons, drills, wrenches and other hand tools, as well as test instruments. Reading blueprints, technical manuals, and radiological instructions to perform work assigned.
