Job Description

Reports to: Assistant Maintenance Manager

Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm

OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE

The job of an Electrician is for the purpose/s of providing electrical services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading building electrical/lighting systems and equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at the job site.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
  • Conduct regular building tours, and inspections, identifying needs and executing corrective action and/or coordinating with management and outside contractors.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools
  • Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices
  • Maintain good working order of company vehicles including refueling, reporting any mechanical issues, and filling out and submitting monthly vehicle inspection forms.
  • Read blueprints or technical diagrams
  • Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components, breakers, and lights.
  • Possess the ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Workdays and schedules are generally routine, however are subject to change. Be prepared/available to work nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service the emergency needs of our customers.
  • OT may be required without notice to complete work assigned - time off may be offered or required within the same pay period to meet budget demands.
  • Follow all safety requirements including lockout/tagout and use appropriate PPE
  • Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.
  • Document all installed equipment: make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
  • Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate the system to the manufacturer's recommendations, and explain fully to the Maintenance Supervisor what the issue is and what is needed to correct it.
  • Participate in company-provided training opportunities on the latest industry technologies.
  • Identify and report to the Maintenance Supervisor potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, and additional services).
  • Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code.
  • Receive and complete work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labor
  • Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Facility Services Department.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate degree or two-year degree of an electrician program from a trade school or community college preferred or completion of an electrician apprenticeship program.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid NC driver's license.

EXPERIENCE: Requires three to five years' experience in inspection, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment.

SKILLS: Good analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's installation manuals. Excellent customer service skills with a desire to exceed customer expectations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with arms and hands. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift / move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. including AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. The noise level is usually moderate.
