ABM Industries is seeking a Test Technician (NETA I/II) to join our team. The Level II NETA Certified technician will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation, testing, and maintenance of HIGH VOLTAGE electrical power distribution equipment for various ABM customers in the assigned territory in or around Lanham, MD. In this role, a company vehicle will be assigned for travel up to 50% of the time, while working under the supervision of a Level III or IV Certified technician, that will be responsible for the Level II Technicians' performance and management of routine and moderately complex tasks and projects, record-keeping, evaluation of test data, and preparation of field service reports. POSITION SUMMARY DETAILS This role performs a variety of electrical tasks in HIGH VOLTAGE TESTING electrical power distribution equipment therefore theoretical electricity knowledge through their education such as a 2 or 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering. Preferably classes in Power Systems are required. PAY RANGE: $21.88 - $45.00 The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on electrical systems.

Test and commission protection and control systems on high-voltage substations.

Maintain, test, repair, rebuild and replace low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.

Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.

Test and inspect low, medium, and high-voltage cable installations.

Maintain, tested, and repaired transformers and related equipment.

Test and calibrate solid-state and electromechanical relays.

Perform relay calibration and power metering.

Conduct low and medium-voltage motor control center and contractor testing.

Start up, troubleshoot, and repair generator controls and transfer schemes.

Sample and analyze insulated fluids.

Complete Job Hazard Analyses including but not limited to arc-flash and shock analyses

Conduct limited and routine investigations, tests, and evaluations.

Document test results and complete field reports.

Rotate emergency on-call duty.

Maintain strict compliance with regulatory laws

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical testing

The candidate should have experience working in and leading a small team

Experience in or capable of managing medium-sized (multi-week) project

Familiar with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards

Familiar with NFPA70E Electrical Safety standards

Ability to troubleshoot electrical performance deficiencies (e.g. ground fault)

Ability to travel 20%

Skilled in testing digital relays (SEL 700G or comparable)

Skilled in using Enoserv RTS

Must be knowledgeable in lockout/Tagout and hazardous energy control procedures.

A clean Driving Record is required to pass an MVR check

Familiarization with Megger and Omnicron test equipment is a plus

A background check must be completed prior to the start date

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

This position will be working primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. This position will be working around electricity and other potential hazards. Appropriate safety equipment and practices are required. Much of our equipment is heavy, so the ability to lift at least 75 pounds is needed.
