Morningstar Corp. is looking for an experienced electronic testing technician to safely and accurately perform a variety of inspecting, testing, manufacturer warranty and modification support; troubleshooting, start-up, maintenance and repair onsite on electronic boards, low and medium voltage electrical equipment and batteries.

The engineer will work with our current design and test team for both New Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, and Manufacturing Support functions. Duties include Automated QA Fixture and Test Script Development. This is a highly collaborative position that requires effective communication with our software, manufacturing, tech support, product management, and sales operations.

Responsibilities:

Plan, perform and report test work according to project plans

Diagnose root causes of failures detected during testing activities

Create documents, including test plans and reports, according to product standard requirements

Perform data analysis and present results from design validation tests

Implement new methods and procedures

Continuously improve the existing laboratory methods and processes

Executing and developing reliability test and accelerated life test methods both for products and components (mechanical, electrical and electronic systems)

Responsible for the Laboratory implementation and maintenance (testing manuals, facilities and instruments)

Perform electronic failure analysis process for company's products

Determine root cause for failures under investigation and determine corrective actions with the production team

Requirements

Required Skills:

AA in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.

Hardware Testing and/or reliability testing

Experience working with Hardware Test equipment such as NI LabVIEW and/or TestStand

Ability to read, review, and understand electrical schematics, engineering specifications and engineering drawings

Experience working with hardware tools, building/site schematics and electrical wiring

Proven ability to deliver according to tight deadlines and in a project organization

Ability to identify circuits and components on circuit boards

Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics

Superb troubleshooting, repair, and testing capabilities

Excellent problem-solving skills

Experience with operating hand and power tools, plus soldering and fault-testing equipment

Preferred Skills:

Experience in Electronics Manufacturing or Power Electronics industry

Experience with Automated Data Acquisition

Test Fixture Design and Fabrication

Automated Hardware Testing

C/C programming language

BS, Electrical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering
