The Hinckley Company, known for building and servicing, strong, seaworthy and beautiful yachts is seeking an experienced Electrical/Mechanical Installer for our production facility in Trenton, Maine.


The Electrical/Mechanical Installer performs complex electrical, mechanical and plumbing tasks for boat fabrication, utilizing various power and hand-tools.


Essential Duties

1. Specializing in a particular discipline, installs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for electrical service; plumbing and plumbing fixtures; and engines, jets, drive trains.

2. Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.

3. Wires and connects electrical, electronic and communication systems, completing circuitry and testing systems using ohmmeters, voltmeters and other electrical testing equipment.

4. Drills holes in bulkhead and cabin to mount panels and fixtures.

5. Places and secures plumbing fixtures (head, sinks) and refrigeration (ice box) and applies sealant. Installs intake and discharge fittings to provide water for plumbing and engine cooling.

6. Cuts holes for valves, outlets, and drives. Inserts valve and outlet fittings through hole to provide watertight fit.

7. Installs other machinery such as motors, pumps, ventilating systems, and auxiliary systems.

8. Has the ability to troubleshoot system problems and provide creative solutions for difficult system installations.

9. Follow defined instructions and procedures in performance of tasks.

10. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain safe, clean work area.

11. All work to be performed and manufactured to Hinckley Company quality standards.

12. Perform other related duties as necessary and assigned.



  1. Vocational technical school degree/certification or High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) and one (1) year equivalent experience.
  2. Knowledge of hand tools (sockets and wrenches) - supplied by candidate.
  3. Two (2) years experience which may be obtained on-the-job and by company training.

Physical Requirements

  1. Lift and Carry over 25 lbs. and up to 60 lbs. on a frequent basis (over 40% and up to 70%).Mechanical Installers may frequently lift or move average weight material; whereas, Electrical Installers may only occasionally lift or move average weight material.
  2. Continuous mental and visual attention is required on a constant basis.
  3. Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, push and pull.
  4. Requires working under disagreeable conditions on a frequent basis where elements such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, vibration, noise, water or chemicals may be present.
