AECOM has an opening for an Electrical Engineer to support our growing Buildings + Places teams in Chicago, IL

The Electrical Engineer will join a multidisciplinary, collaborative team with a range of expertise supporting the expansion of their knowledge base with the ability to travel and gain field experience.

Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism, and planning (inclusive of landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. Job Summary/Responsibilities:

The Electrical Engineer will work in a highly collaborative environment on a wide range of projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing building electrical systems. The Engineer will be responsible for performing technical calculations and design, understanding the project requirements and the effort required to complete the work and applying critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.

Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.

Research and apply building code, regulatory and industry code requirements.

Prepare electrical design calculations, utilize electrical and lighting design software.

Responsible for supporting the electrical engineering design work on assigned projects under the guidance of senior staff.

Coordinating with multiple disciplines and ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.

Ensures discipline plans meet overall project team requirements for scope and schedule.

Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to electrical, telecom, and security.

Ensures conformance with standards and established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.

Develops designs within a BIM design environment.

Completes assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards.
