In Microsoft s Mixed Reality team (the makers of Hololens), we are defining the next generation of AI-powered devices which will enable the real world to become the AI inputs. With our augmented and mixed reality hardware and software experiences, we aim to simplify, improve, and empower people and organizations everywhere to achieve more. We are looking for a Power Electrical Engineer to help us build the next generations of Mixed Reality devices.
In this role, you will drive power system architecture, especially battery and charging and PCB/PCBA designs for Mixed Reality products, both industrial and consumer. You will partner closely with mechanical, Industrial Design, display, sensors, cameras, wireless, and firmware teams to drive the right design tradeoffs for the product. Job Responsibilities: Responsible for creating power models to estimate battery day of use, power circuit design, simulation, validation, and characterization across multiple products ensuring their successful delivery.
Generate design documentation, perform schematic capture and board layout review, prototype bring-up and design validation.
Characterize power consumption, battery run time, battery charging/discharging curve. Collect power measurements for builds and drive power consumption optimization cross-functionally.
Root-cause and solve technical issues during new product development and support in field escalations.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as industrial design, architecture, product design, NPI, and supply chain.
Evaluate and enable innovative solutions for cost, size, efficiency, safety, and reliability.
Work closely with CM/JDM resources to leverage their engineers and maximize the focus of internal resources on adding value to and differentiating our product. Qualifications: Required/Minimum Qualifications
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
6+ years of experience of low power design and delivery in consumer electronics or related fields
Knowledge of the characteristics of power conversion such as linear and switching regulators
Working experience in battery management system, charger, mobile SoC and PMIC
Experience and knowledge of printed circuit board (PCB) technologies, such as rigid, flex, hybrid, HDI, etc.
Experience leading technical teams, cross-functional groups and vendors against plans Preferred Qualifications:
MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience in bringing new technologies to product
Experience performing bench level power measurements to validate battery life
