Responsibilities We are seeking an enthusiastic entry-level electrical and electronics design engineer for the embedded electronics group within the hardware directorate. Employees in the embedded electronics group tend to focus on electronic hardware design, but also have enough understanding of software and firmware in order to develop simple test code and proper hardware interfaces. Design projects typically last 12 to 18 months. You may be working on space-based systems, missile programs, or miniature electronic systems. Strong fundamentals and a desire to learn are critical in this position. Over time, you will develop your skills towards designing PCBs and electronics using state-of-the-art FPGAs and microprocessors, high-speed serial interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet), and high-speed memory (DDR3, 4), and precision signal conditioning circuitry. - Electrical System architecture design and generation of detailed documentation
- Detailed electrical analysis, design and schematic capture - Manage PCB layout design resources
- Hardware prototype bring up and debugging
- Functional verification
- Performance characterization Qualifications Required Qualifications: BSEE, MSEE preferred Strong analysis and problem solving skills Fundamentals of analog and digital electronics Understanding of microcontroller and FPGA functionality and coding Preferred Qualifications: Fundamentals of digital signal processing and control theory Fundamentals of power electronics Previous work experience as an engineering co-op Ability to perform detailed analysis and clearly document results Above-average technical presentation skills Demonstrated team experience (preferably multi-disciplinary) Previous experience designing PCBs and electronic circuits GPA > 3.7 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent Security Requirement: Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
