The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and representation in matters related to elder law, including long-term care planning, special needs planning, Medicaid eligibility planning, and estate planning. Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and representation to clients in all areas of elder law, including long-term care planning, special needs planning, Medicaid eligibility planning, and estate planning.
  • Develop and implement effective legal strategies to protect the rights and interests of elderly clients and their families.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, contracts, and agreements related to elder law matters.
  • Keep abreast of current legislation, regulations, and legal trends affecting elder law and advise clients accordingly.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, administrative hearings, and negotiations as necessary.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed legal reports, correspondence, and pleadings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through regular communication and excellent customer service.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure the efficient and effective handling of elder law cases.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • A valid license to practice law in Virginia is required; a North Carolina bar license is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in elder law, with a focus on long-term care planning, special needs planning, Medicaid eligibility planning, and estate planning.
  • Strong knowledge of elder law principles, practices, and legislation.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and discretion.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong client service skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, their families, and other professionals.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software applications.
