CHS, Inc is hiring a EH&S Specialist to join our Illinois team to champion the safety and compliance of our barge terminals and warehouses. Daily you will work onsite with our operations staff to plan, direct and implement safety activities to promote the environmental health and safety of our terminal and barge operations. Location preferred: Peru, IL or within a one hour radius Responsibilities With assistance, coordinate compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) related requirements (federal, state, local, and company). Assist in the development and implementation of EH&S related plans, programs, policies, and procedures. Conduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors, and visitors. Conduct basic EH&S related audits, workplace inspections, job safety analysis, and maintain detailed recordkeeping. Conduct incident investigations, to identify root cause and recommend preventative measures. Communicate EH&S related requirements and expectations to other departments and personnel to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment. Properly respond to day-to-day EH&S related issues and incidents in a timely and efficient manner. Keep current on all applicable EH&S related rules and regulations. Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned. Minimum Qualifications (required) High School diploma or GED Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and/or Safety Additional Qualifications Agriculture or facility operation background Understanding of barge, terminal, and facility practices & functions Documentation management & effective communication skills Ability to complete OSHA 30 agriculture training Bachelor's degree preferred in Environmental Health and Safety, or related field Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug and other necessary tasks. Physical Requirements Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment needed to inspect facilities Ability to work in dusty and adverse and changeable weather conditions CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
