Job Summary The EEG Technologists performs Clinical Evoked Potential, Intraoperative Monitoring, and other related testing within the Neurophysiology Lab. Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to: Performs Electroencephalographic procedures at the bedside or in the neurophysiology lab Prepares patients for testing by informing and explaining the procedure, applying electrodes accordingly, and administering the requested test Set up equipment and supplies needed to administer EEG recording and monitoring Answers call for emergency patient care requirements of the Neurophysiology Lab during holidays, weekends, and after hours assigned. Maintains proper paperwork and documentation for all tests based on age appropriateness and development needs of patients All other assigned duties related to Neurophysiology Lab Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED Completion of an approved EEG technology program OR 3 years of experience performing EEG Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations Registration by the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (ABRET) Successful completion and pass of Part II ABRET boards for at least one modality (EEG, EP, EMU), within 1 year of hire into the role Skills and Abilities Understanding of basic medical terminology Understanding of basic anatomy and physiology of the body Effective communicator; Must read, write, and speak English Should be able to work flexible schedule and be "on call" when needed Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships This position will interact with patients, their families, and hospital medical staff in various departments Physical Capabilities While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Environmental/Working Conditions This position is subject to indoor temperature changes. Work done intraoperative is performed in a high- risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens.
