Job Description Job Description Summary

The Inpatient Electroencephalography (EEG) Technician I of Clinical Neurophysiology Services, under direct supervision of the EEG Coordinator, EEG Unit Leaders or designee, the Inpatient EEG Technician I records by means of electronic equipment neurophysiologic potentials for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system.

Job Description

Operating machines known as electroencephalographs, which are used to measure and record the electrical activity of brain waves via electrodes secured to the patient's scalp. The technicians use these devices to administer tests called electroencephalograms (EEGs), which may then detect brain disorders or damage. monitors the patient's status and notes any abnormalities. After testing is complete, they report their findings to the patient's doctor for further analysis. This position includes a $2,500 sign on bonus for night shift and $1,000 sign on bonus for day shift.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Training and Education: Requires either an associate or bachelors degree or an active student in good standing in a CAAHEP accredited EEG program. Must obtain EEG certification within 2 years of employment. Certification in Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. May require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotating shifts, and weekends.
